  • Jameson Pub Award

The Local, an Irish Pub in Minneapolis, was honored recently by delegation from Dublin for selling the most Jameson on Earth. The Local, started by 2 Irish transplants sold nearly 400 cases of Jameson.

I would have thought my neighborhood Trader Joe’s would have been honored just on my purchases alone, but hats off to the Local for keeping the Holy Water flowing in America’s heartland.

  • Mardi Gras 2007

Things are back in full swing again this Fat Tuesday. New Orleans, although not fully recovered from Katrina, is open for business. And on Fat Tuesday that business is beads, parades, and lots and lots of drinking. The good news is that you don’t have to be in the Big Easy to celebrate. Mardi Gras has become a national party holiday (less its religious meaning) and is celebrated by fun folks all over the country.… Read more

  • DragonBar – San Francisco

    Happy New Year.

This, the first post of 2007 goes to Ashley, Tara and the rest of the gang at the DragonBar for the awesome New Years Eve Party they threw.

Located in the heart of North Beach, this club has been around since 2003 and has become a mainstay of this now rejuvenated area of San Francisco. I’ve been here on many occasions, having worked just down the street at one point. This event … Read more

  • Butch McGuire’s – Chicago

A few years ago, I spent a week at a buddies place in Chicago. A short walk from his place is the Gold Coast and Michigan Avenue, at that juncture of these two areas sits Butch McGuire’s. This classic bar in the most classic of places is a must stop for any weary traveler to the Windy City.

The place has a great bar menu (sliders, nachos and the best Rueben in Chicago), an awesome … Read more
