  • Drink More Whiskey – Book Review

Our friend Daniel Yaffe, founder of Drink Me magazine, recently published his first book < Drink More Whiskey: Everything You Need to Know About Your New Favorite Drink
.  Daniel is clearly a lover of whiskey and this book is his personal homage to the spirit.  We can hardly blame him as it’s one of our favorite beverages as well.

In Drink More Whiskey, Daniel takes a new approach to examining the spirit that is fun, witty and bordering on irreverant.  Daniel doesn’t write a dissertation on whiskey in … Read more

Attention Maker’s Mark and bourbon fans!  Acclaim Press has recently released The Ambassador of Bourbon – a photographic journey that chronicles the magic occurring in Loretto Kentucky.  The lush photos examine the distillery during the day and night, in summer and winter.  The journey begins with the grain (corn, wheat and rye and with a heavier use of wheat than most bourbons, which provides the soft tones that Maker’s exhibits) as it ferments, forms the … Read more

We like to point that out as many people think that bourbon can only come from Kentucky.  Bourbon can come from … Read more

  • A Taste of Bourbon

Each September marks Bourbon Heritage Month.  While there are other spirits with connections to America – think colonial rum and apple brandy – no spirit is as quintessentially American as bourbon.  Bourbon is an amber colored whiskey that must be made from a mash consisting of a majority of corn, matured in charred American oak barrels and bottled at no less than 80 proof.

Bourbon is often associated with Kentucky but bourbon can be made … Read more

  • Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon Review

I didn’t know much about Four Roses Bourbon other than that my friend Ingrid really, really likes it!  We recently received a bottle of the Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon with the identification of Warehouse DS and Barrel 3-1I.  Apparently, each of the Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon bottles come marked with their barrel identification and warehouse storage location.  I thought that was pretty cool as bottles from different barrels can conceivably taste pretty different.  … Read more
