Champagne Cocktail

Tomorrow is Bastille Day! In honor of French Independence Day, this week’s drink is the Champagne Cocktail. The Champagne Cocktail combines two of France’s best contributions to the world of booze – Champagne and Cognac! While the recipe says that the Cognac is optional, it really isn’t. The drink is much better with Cognac, but seriously, what isn’t? So, raise a toast to the French – Viva La France!

Ingredients

  • 3 oz chilled champagne
  • ½ oz cognac (optional)
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • 1 sugar cube
  • Maraschino cherry, garnish
  • Lemon twist, garnish

Instructions

Drop a sugar cube in to a champagne flute. Soak the sugar with the bitters. Pour in the cognac and fill with the glass with champagne. Drop in a cherry, and add the lemon twist on the rim. * Photo courtesy of culturemob.com

a nice changeout and very simple – is to drop several frozen pomegranate seeds into the champaign. They are red – and look great in the glass. Great for Valentines day toasting jennalanger wbillingslea

    1. @wseagrave wbillingslea I’ve heard of putting strawberries in champagne, but pomegranate seeds seems like a great addition!
