• Beer Pong WON’T Give You a Disease

Last week, you may have read on the internet (or even seen on the news) that beer pong gives you herpes. Well, it’s just not true. It started out as a joke story, but college newspapers and local TV stations picked up the “story” and ran with it.

It was a hoax. Get out the red cups and beer pong to your heart’s content!

So while beer pong, in my opinion, is still not the … Read more

  • Funny Cocktails

Aside from being delicious, cocktails can also be hilarious.

Eric Felten wrote an interesting piece for the Wall Street Journal about great comedy moments involving cocktails.

From Daffy Duck’s “Drip-Along Daffy” to Homer Simpson inventions such as “The Flaming Homer” (aka “The Flaming Moe”), the cocktail holds a special place in the comedy world.

He recounts a particularly hilarious cocktail featured in the original “Nutty Professor” film:

He demonstrates his bad-boy bona-fides by grabbing the

  • Edible Shot Glasses

OK, so technically these aren’t “glasses.” But these chocolate-lined, shot cups are an alcohol-conveyance method that you can eat!

They look like tiny ice cream cones. So perhaps you could make your own? Coat the tiniest ice cream cones you can find in chocolate and then add booze? Sounds like a tasty experiment to me.

Here are some shots that might go well with these choco shooter cups:

  • The Cholive Chocolate Cocktail Garnish

Does your cocktail need some chocolate? A Cholive could be just what you’re looking for.

Cholive = chocolate + olive … get it? Don’t worry, they are not actually chocolate-covered olives.

They are olive-shaped chocolate truffles. Skewer them and you have a delicious cocktail garnish.

Here’s one recipe that sounds like a good use of chocolate!

    Dirty Grasshopper Ingredients

1 oz Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka
1 oz Green Creme de Menthe

The original Margarita was invented in 1948 by socialite Margarita Sames. According to the legend, it was during a party at her cliff side hacienda in Acapulco that Margarita began experimenting with “the drink.” Looking for something to cut the dust of a hot afternoon, she mixed Tequila Herradura, Cointreau and fresh lime juice. Her cocktail kept the party going for two weeks and today … Read more

  • Happy National Margarita Day!

Today is National Margarita Day! I haven’t been able to find the origin of this special day. It’s possible a smart tequila company came up with the idea and was able to successfully spread it around.

However, I am happy to celebrate it regardless of who actually declared it a holiday. As far as I’m concerned, let’s make every Sunday Margarita Day.

Here are some margarita recipes to help you celebrate this lovely holiday:
